American Academy of Dermatology Cancels Annual Meeting in Denver, Plans to Share Research

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has canceled their 2020 annual meeting, which was scheduled to take place from March 20 to 24 in Denver, Colorado. The decision came in light of the restrictions placed on large gatherings, travel, and the closure of public facilities and businesses in an effort to curtail the coronavirus pandemic.

The conference cancellation is also borne from the Academy’s acknowledgment that they “respect our physicians’ need to be available to and healthy for their own patients, communities, and countries,” explained AAD President George J. Hruza, MD, MBA, FAAD, in a letter to members and attendees.

Currently, the AAD is exploring virtual meeting options to deliver “world-class education, spotlight dermatology’s innovation, and celebrate the many achievements” that were planned for recognition at the conference.
